Are vein Treatments  too expensive to consider?

Posted on August 21, 2019 by Dr. Stephen Rivard

As cosmetic procedures are generally not covered by insurance and thus an out-of-pocket expense. However, because vein disease is real disease most of the cost is covered by insurance.  Additionally, it is common (25% of the time) for patients to come in for cosmetic procedures like spider vein removal and discover that they have underlying vein disease.  If this happen, then insurance covers it all.

Generally insurance Will cover most of the tratment cost if the Doctor does diagnose some formo f venous insufficiency (varicose veins). If it is determined in your Doppler Duplex Ultrasound Scan that you in fact do have varicose veins, the Doctor Will write a letter to your insurance company for pre-certification prior to any producere to ensure hat your treatment is approved. Spider veins, however, are often found to be primarily cosmetic and thus are not covered by insurance.

It is important to note that each insurance company reimburses different amounts for the various treatments offered. At Illinois Vein Specialists, we Will work with you and your insurance provider to ensure that you receive the highest reimbursement possible.
