Congrats, Dr. Susan Kanehann on Your ABVLM Certification!

Posted on June 17, 2016 by Dr. Stephen Rivard

We are pleased to announce that our own Dr. Susan Kanehann has officially been certified in venous & lymphatic medicine by the American Board of Venous & Lymphatic Medicine!

The ABVLM is an independent non-profit organization organized under the laws of the state of Illinois for scientific and educational purposes.

DrKanehann.pngVein diseases like varicose and spider veins are often thought of as solely cosmetic concerns, but the truth is that without treatment they can lead to continued side effects and severe problems. Symptoms like pain, fatigue, and swelling are common, and in more serious situations patients can develop Edema (an excess of watery fluid collecting in the leg tissue), Deep Vein Thrombosis (blood clots in the leg), and evenvenous ulcers.

It is not only important for individuals suffering from venous disease to consult a physician for treatment, but to consult the right physician for treatment: one who is certified in venous & lymphatic medicine.

Though many different types of physicians now offer treatment for varicose and spider veins, only certified venous & lymphatic physicians are truly able to provide the best care. Their certification means that they have passed the most comprehensive examination of knowledge in venous disease available today in addition to meeting requirements of the American Board of Venous & Lymphatic Medicine.

Congratulations, Dr. Kanehann!
