There are many different sources that discuss the benefits of natural treatments for many ailments. Herbs to reduce inflammation, topical creams to stop rashes or burns, even things like fungus (mushrooms) or ginger to aid in immunity deficiencies or help promote digestion, etc. All of these before mentioned natural remedies are often beneficial - and frequently work very well, but there are times when medical treatment is necessary. Over my course of 25 + years spent running an emergency room, I have seen it all - I have seen first hand what medicine can do to save someones life when the seconds count. However, what many may not know is that for the last decade I have spent a considerable amount of time investing in the development of organic farmland - not just the land but the families that farm the land. Personally, I have also seen the significance real food can play in aiding ones overall health.
I have had friends that have been literally been cured from serious stages of cancer with their own blood, families members eliminate their asthma from changing their diet; other reduce gut and intestinal gout from eating less gluten and dairy... the list goes on. I am a huge advocate of natural remedies, particularly as a preventative to so many things, yet I still practice medicine everyday, because I still have not found anything that can actually cure varicose vein disease like the procedures I perform in my office. I have even treated patients who have actually tried everything else first - for decades - often ending up only suffering from large venous ulcerations as a result. I have read study after study on natural cures for venous disease, but the fact remains that - particularly for those where genetics play a role - venous disease means real damage has been done and the prevention of the disease is far too late.
By the time a patient sees the large bulging veins in their legs, the notion that this can somehow be cured by rubbing topical cream over it is no longer even remotely possible. Why you might ask? The reason is this... when pressure builds due to poor circulation in the veins the veins begin to expand gradually over time and the vein valves responsible for pumping the blood back towards the heart begin to break (literally break). This happens slowly - often over many years - and when you finally notice the veins large and protruding from your skin, the truth is that the disease has manifested so significantly that it has literally spread into many areas of the lower regions of your body.
The only way to "treat" the problem is to reroute the blood flow, because again, nothing has been proven to repair the broken vein valves. Rerouting the blood flow means removing the veins that are diseased and allowing the blood to then be redirected into properly functioning veins. Believe me when I say that if there were a more effective way to cure your varicose vein disease, i would offer it... in fact I have tried literally every form of treatment, and only offer the most effective and safest available - i.e endovenous laser therapy.
In the end the idea is to become educated about your ailments to make smart decisions about how to best treat your problem - and the best I have found is to treat the problem at the source. Natural treatments may provide some temporary relief, but none can offer the same life long results and efficacy rates of proper medical vein care. Vein disease is real disease - it can in fact lead to serious consequences if not treated properly by a trained, certified vein doctor.
